Lava Hot Pools Construction
Lava Hot Springs World Famous Hot Pools will be temporarily closing October 13, 2025 and reopening November 7, 2025 (approximately). We will be starting the dewatering of the hottest pool and beginning the construction process. The hottest pool will be closed for seven months, but the other four pools will reopen as soon as possible.

Q. Why did you start the construction now instead of doing it during the slow time in the summer?
A. There is not a good time. We set records in July of 2025. The parking is astronomical in the summer and now is when the contractors wanted to start.
Q. Will the hottest pool still be 112 degrees?
A. We do not regulate the temperatures so it should be the same temperature as before.
Q. Who is paying for this?
A. We are a self-funded State Agency. We have saved for it and are paying for it. It does not come out of tax dollars.
Q. Will you be completely closed for seven months?
A. No, only the hottest pool will be closed for seven months. The other four pools will be open.
Q. Will there be noise during the construction?
A. Due to the nature of construction and depending on what they are doing, yes there will be noise. We do have earplugs for the customers if requested.
Q. Do you have architectural drawings of the remodel?
A. Not yet, we are having them drawn up and will post as soon as we get them.
Q. Are you going to increase the price of tickets?
A. No, we are not increasing the prices at this time. We are told on a daily basis how reasonable our prices are.
Q. Will the bottom of the pool be cement or gravel?
A. It will be gravel the same as it was before.
Q. Can you build a cold plunge also?
A. After this project is complete, the cold plunge is in planning stages.
Q. Will the stairs and ramps be better and more accessible?
A. Yes, everything will be ADA approved.
Q. Will you give us access to the cave?
A. No, it has been gated since the late 80’s for various safety reasons and we will not be opening the gate.
Q. Was Bigfoot in the shadows?
A. Yes, we do believe it was! How exciting.
Q. How much treasure did you find in the bottom of the pool?
A. None, there was still water in the bottom so we did not search it.
Q. Did you find my locker key?
A. No, we did not.
